You might say Justin Parschauer, DO went into the family business. His dad was an ophthalmologist in his hometown in Ohio. Dr. Parschauer grew up working at his office and going on medical mission trips with him. This piqued his interest in the field and he followed in his dad’s footsteps becoming an ophthalmologist. During his residency at OSU Medical Center in Tulsa, Dr. Parschauer gained exposure to the vitreoretinal specialty and took on a fellowship at South Texas Retina Consultants.

“It’s an exciting field. There are new medicines, new studies, new ways to handle things. As our population ages, there’s a growing need for this kind of specialist.”

When it comes to treating retinal conditions, Dr. Parschauer says each case is different. “With all the treatment options available today, we are able to put together a more and more individualized approach. There are not cookie cutter solutions. Our job is to figure out the best course of action for each patient.”

Dr. Parschauer enjoys helping people. He joined Tulsa Retina Consultants in 2017. It is the largest retina specialty group in the region. “Our offices are set up for just what we do making the process of evaluation, testing and treatment more streamlined. We have a great staff. When you have a group together like this we’re able to stay on the cutting edge.”
